Just what is The Women of Smoke Rise?
The history of The Women of Smoke Rise goes back over 55 years. Few community members know that it was originally founded for the purpose of delivering the mail (yes, the US Postal Service mail) to the residents within our gates. It quickly evolved into an organization chartered to provide community and charitable services and also offer a social platform to enable WSR members to bond by enjoying club-sponsored social functions tailored specifically to the interests of our members.
Today’s WSR has continued to evolve in subtle ways that make it easier to participate for the “new” 21st century woman. Many of the events and much of the scheduling caters to both working women and busy moms whose time demands are greater than those of our predecessors from just a decade or two earlier.
As a member, you can choose to participate in any or all of the gratifying, joyful and just plain fun projects and events.
Our list of service and charity sponsorships include the WSR Annual Scholarship,
the annual Christmas Charity Fund and donations to various local charities.
Membership dues are a twenty dollar ($20) contribution, annually.
