The Paddle Tennis Club was founded in 1988 by Smoke Rise families who had been playing paddle on local public courts and wanted to bring the game to Smoke Rise. The land was cleared and foundations set by volunteers and the first court's construction personally financed by the founding families. The path to the court is located to the left of the Inn parking lot as you face the tennis courts. The court is raised to allow snow to be cleared off the court. The court has a grit like surface which allows all weather play even during rain or snow. The game is played with a paddle and a soft but solid rubber ball. The court is laid out like a tennis court but about half the size. The game is a social one because it is usually played by four and they are in relatively close proximity. The court is lit for night play.
Annual dues are $150.00 per family and include a generous supply of balls. There is a one time fully refundable (when and if your family leaves Smoke Rise) bond payment of $1,500.00 required.
